BENGALURU: Wipro chairman Rishad Premji said the IT services company has not laid off any employee and has no plans to retrench employees due the Covid-19 pandemic impact on business.
Premji, who took charge in July last year, was addressing his first annual general meeting (AGM) as the Chairman of Wipro.
Wipro, like other Indian IT services companies, have reduced new hiring in the wake of the pandemic induced slowdown across geographies.
âSafety and well-being of our employees are of paramount importance,â Premji told shareholders at the AGM this morning.
Thierry Delaporte, chief executive officer and managing director, Wipro, said he is âhoping to finalise the plan to drive improvements across all spheresâ to achieve industry leading growth.
âProfitable growth will be the most important priority on my agenda. We will do everything to regain momentum in the marketplace,â Delaporte told shareholders.
