Twitter restores 250 accounts blocked in India after suspending for six hours

Microblogging website Twitter has restored 250 accounts that were blocked in India earlier in the day for allegedly using a controversial hashtag, after a meeting with officials from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The accounts, included those of Kisan Ekta Morcha, activist Hansraj Meena, former Lok Sabha MP and CPI(M) leader Mohammed Salim, media outlet Caravan India, Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Shekhar and actor Sushant Singh, were suspended for six hours to comply with a “legal demand,” prompting confusion and anger among users who are seeking an explanation for this action.
